Survey 2019

My Plan to secure a brighter future for Milton Keynes North

All too often politicians tell us what is important; but I am asking, what would you like to see, how would you improve our area, what would you change for the better? I have included a survey asking you what matters locally. We will continue to form our policy from the topics you raise. Please find below My Plan for Milton Keynes North. We are keen to hear your views as to ensure we truly represent you.

FAIR FUNDING FOR HEALTHCARE

Our local hospital and GPs are doing the best they can delivering for residents. But, we often fall behind in funding because of MK’s rapid expansion. We have secured funding so the hospital can continue to expand and we re-opened Willen Surgery to create better access to local GPs.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

MK is at an important point in its lifetime. We have reached the planned housing numbers and footprint, where do we go now? We are determined to deliver more housing, especially truly affordable housing such as starter homes, shared ownership and social rent. But, it must be done in a sustainable way, economic-led and ensuring infrastructure is in place before expansion.

IMPROVING THE COMMUTING EXPERIENCE

Working with Government, we secured the new East West Rail that will link MK up to Oxford and Cambridge. There have been extra carriages added to peak time trains and I campaigned for the 26-30 millennial railcard. Now we are trying to make ticketing simpler and more flexible to keep the cost down.

TACKLING SERIOUS CRIME

Crime has fallen significantly since 2010. Thames Valley Police have done a great job keeping us safe and last year they took on 11 new officers in MK. There is, however, a worrying increase in serious violent crime. I will work with Thames Valley Police to make sure they have the resources they need to keep us safe and drive out gang and knife crime.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

Thanks to Sky Ocean Rescue and Blue Planet, protecting the environment has been pushed to the top of the political agenda. I will shortly be launching my GreenMK initiative which will invite young people to come up with business ideas that reduces our energy use or levels of waste. Whatever your views and opinions they are important to me so please let me know what you think. The more surveys returned the more representative and powerful the results will be. If you have any questions, I am here to help and look forward to receiving your survey back in the next few days.
