Tools That Change Lives

Think again! Don't throw out those old, unwanted hand tools!

On a visit to local charity, Tools for Self Reliance (MK), I met with Steve Brewer Project Manager and Chairman John Moffoot.

Based in their workshop in Pennyland, the team, who have been operating since 1989, expertly refurbish old tradesmen's tools to an incredibly high standard and then ship them to Africa and other developing countries.

Working in partnership with Camphill residents who have learning disabilities, they refurbish over 85% of the donated tools, and to date approximately 48,000 tools have been sent abroad, some of which are sold locally to raise much needed funds.

After seeing the team at work, I can say that this is truly an inspiring concept. Recycling unwanted tools, providing skills training and volunteering opportunities for local people and then provide tool kits for developing countries, without question, has a positive impact on all concerned.
