I'm so proud of Maddison Harris who has been recognised by the Prime Minister with a Point of Light award for her outstanding voluntary work raising more than £40,000 for CLIC Sargent.
Maddison started her campaign “Don’t Stare, It’s Only Hair” in 2017 to encourage people to shave their heads in support of children undergoing chemotherapy.
After being diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just seven, Maddison began the campaign for CLIC Sargent which raised over £40,000 in just a year.
Maddison becomes the UK’s 1,155th Point of Light and will be presented with her award by Mark Lancaster, the MP for Milton Keynes North. In 2018 she also won the Young Fundraiser of the Year at JustGiving Awards.
It’s excellent to see the Prime Minister has recognised Maddison for her incredible achievements in raising so much money and awareness for CLIC Sargent.
To be thinking of others while she was fighting leukaemia herself was a wonderful gesture and she is fully deserving of this award.
Thanks to her selfless work more children will be able to get the specialist support they need. She is truly inspirational.
