Since I visited the derelict Old School House in Wolverton two years ago there has been an incredible and dramatic transformation.
For seven years Marie Osborne, of Future Wolverton, has led a stoic team to fundraise £1.24 million to ensure the 166-year-old, Grade-2 listed building is sympathetically restored.
This is Milton Keynes' first co-operatively owned building with 115 shareholders contributing 122k - 53% of whom are MK based.
At the officially launch students from the adjacent Slated Row School performed some beautiful songs and provided refreshments. They will be greatly benefiting from the refurbishment with opportunities to learn about hospitality, catering and landscaping.
The Old School House now has a beautifully restored school hall, a community cafe, and a stunning three bedroom guesthouse, which is cleverly furnished using items from the old school. What an amazing achievement!
