Dee who lives in Olney contacted my office asking if I could help in raising awareness for her forthcoming “Brave the Shave”. Having heard her heart-warming story and the lengths she’s prepared to go to, I’m happy to help where I can.
Dee’s daughter, Samantha, is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. A mum of three young children, she was diagnosed in February and since the news Dee has been actively fundraising. Dee has undertaken the very brave decision to have her head shaved for Macmillan Cancer support.
The local community and the children’s school have all jumped at the chance to support the family with a variety of fundraising events. Olney Jazz Club are donating funds raised at their dedicated event to be held on 3rd July and local group, Singing for All will also be raising funds at their concert to be organised also in July.
In Dee’s own words, “By being open about what is happening to her, Samantha has unleashed a tidal wave of love and support from her family and friends. The town has lived up to its motto “Olney is Kind”. Samantha has been amazing through it all and kept our spirits up, she is determined to be seen as a survivor, not a sufferer.
Can you offer your support to Dee and her family? https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/dee-dookhie
