A particularly proud moment for me as a former Gurkha officer, was to represent the government this week at the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the UK.
I met with Prince Harry, who was representing Her Majesty the Queen, at the Nepalese Embassy in London to celebrate one of the longest continuous alliances the UK has ever had.
One of the most enduring features is that for over 200 years Nepalese citizens have served in the British Army in the famous Brigade of Gurkha's. As guests, we witnessed the famous 'Kukri Dance' performed by soldiers of the Brigade.
It was a real honour to be invited to this remarkable event celebrating our enduring relationship. I have the most fantastic memories of my time in the Gurkha's and serving with some of the fiercest but also kindest soldiers in the world.
