I welcome £1,940,000 of extra funding for Thames Valley Police to tackle violent crime.
Home Secretary Sajid Javid has announced the cash boost as part of a national fund which will see £12.4 million distributed to 18 forces across the country.
Milton Keynes has a lower violent crime rate than the national average, but there has been a rise in violent crime over the past year and this extra money follows £32.7million more for Thames Valley Police earlier this year.
This extra money will ensure our local police force can do more to keep the people of Milton Keynes safe.
I’m pleased the Home Secretary has recognised the difficult issues police are facing and has acted to ensure they have the resources to tackle crime.
The increase in police funding earlier this year was the largest since 2010 as we look to get more officers on the streets and continue to improve the ways crime is dealt with.
