Books to Africa

Over 100,000 educational textbooks were shipped off from MK last Friday set for thousands of school children in The Republic of Liberia.

Ihezie Foundation-Book Relief Africa, based in Kiln Farm, invited myself and Iain Stewart MP, Deputy Mayor Cllr David Hopkins, dignitaries from Sierra Leone and Liberia as well as individuals from the Milton Keynes Business Community to see off the delivery.

The educational books range from maths and science to engineering and languages. The charity has already sent over half a million textbooks this year and expects to provided almost one million textbooks by Christmas.

Michael Bloedorn who runs the charity said: "We were delighted to welcome everyone to Ihezie Foundation-Book Relief Africa. We have only been up and running since May 2015 and to say we have already sent over 600,000 textbooks is a fantastic achievement. We have many organisations helping us but we are always looking for more support, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you think you can help."

It was a pleasure to attend and wave off the delivery of textbooks. They are doing important work and making a real difference to peoples lives.
