Six weeks after the General Election City MP Mark Lancaster has been given a job in Government as the Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for International Development his former boss. The unpaid role is the junior ministerial job in the Department that he was shadowing for the three years in the run up to last months General Election. Mr Lancaster who missed out in the first round of appointments as a result of the coalition Government said;

“I’m pleased to be joining the Department that I was shadowing for the last three years as I feel that at least I have a firm understanding of many of the issues. With so many NGO’s such as World Vision and Advantage Africa based in Milton Keynes it’s equally good to been in a Department that has relevance to the city.”

“As ever my priority will be Milton Keynes and any Departmental role will be secondary to representing my constituents in Westminster.”
