City MP Mark Lancaster has joined eye care charities, organisations and health professionals from across Milton Keynes to promote the importance of eye health and the need for regular eye tests for all during ‘National Eye Week’
During a visit Hammond and Dummer Opticians on Midsummer Boulevard Mark said;
“Having a regular eye examinations means that more eye disease is detected at an earlier stage and therefore more people’s sight is saved. Losing your sight is one of life’s greatest fears and yet people do not care for their eyes.”
“UK sight testing is second to none in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness, I’m trying to do my bit to encourage people with no obvious symptoms to get their eyes checked on a regular basis as this could be the key to preventing a loss of vision in older age.”
Certain groups of people such as children and those and low incomes can receive free eye examinations as well as a contribution towards the cost of glasses.
