PM promises to look at Millie's case |

Mark Lancaster has quizzed the Prime Minister about treatment for a young constituent with a rare genetic disease.
The city MP asked David Cameron about six-year-old Millie D’Cruz, one of just 17 people in the UK who suffers from metochromatic leukodystrophy (MLD).
Last month the Milton Keynes North MP met Millie and her mother Twila, who are currently trying to raise £200,000 for life-prolonging treatment in Holland. However, it is thought the treatment may be available on the NHS.
During Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday, Mr Lancaster asked Mr Cameron to simply look into the case to ensure that Millie’s family get the support they deserve.
Mr Cameron said: “There’s a big change taking place in medicine where far more interest needs to be put into genetic data and genetically inherited diseases,” adding that he was happy to look into Millie’s case.
Afterwards Mr Lancaster said: “This is a big step in the right direction. I am delighted that the Prime Minister is aware of Millie’s situation and we will wait and see what he comes back with.”
